For what it's worth, one reason I was attracted to this Tesla integration is to enable control of more than 3 devices which is otherwise the hard limit of HomeLink devices in Tesla or most any vehicle. It would be nice to be able to have similar access from my Tesla to other MyQ shared houses (like my elderly parents).

MyQ means your Liftmaster/Chamberlin opener is internet capable with either built-in hardware or add-on hardware. Newer models have wi-fi built-in, older models need to add hardware to connect to the internet which is available on amazon. Edit: Just to clarify, MyQ’s 10 year service option is $300. Homelink costs $350 installed from Tesla and introduces physical hardware to the car. IMO those 2 prices are basically apples to apples (yes I know it is a service vs a hardware cost, but 10 years is a long time) I chose MyQ because it’s just easier for a little less $.

All I can add to the original post is hold your remote 2" in front of the Tesla symbol at the front of the car in standard mode until the lights flash. Then follow the instructions, push the program button on the Gene unit. Once it says successful push the Homelink button until the garage door activates.
It all has to do with Wi-Fi/ internet/connection. If you don't have the perfect setup with your Tesla getting good internet service and your garage with a excellent connection, is simply doesn't work well. My problem isn't my home Wi-Fi, it's the terrible and spotty connection in my Tesla where I live.
